Route along the Costa del Sol

A route along the Costa del Sol combines the best of both worlds: mild weather most of the year and a succession of villages, beaches and promenades that are perfect for exploring by motorhome. You can visit coves, beach bars, viewpoints and historic town centres without travelling long distances, and there are plenty of options for staying overnight near the sea.

Why take a motorhome trip along the Costa del Sol?

  • You have good roads and short distances between towns.

  • A wide range of campsites and areas open all year round.

  • Pleasant climate even in months outside of summer.

In addition, there are plans for everyone: beach, gentle hiking, gastronomy, culture and life of strolling into the evening.

Suggested route along the Costa del Sol

You can adapt the days to suit your preferences, but a basic idea could be:

Malaga city as a starting point

Malaga is the perfect place to start or end your trip along the Costa del Sol:

  • Historic centre, Pier One and views from Gibralfaro.

  • Centro histórico, Muelle Uno y vistas desde Gibralfaro.

Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola

Classic Costa del Sol area:

  • Long promenades for walking or cycling.

  • Atmosphere, terraces and beaches with amenities.

With a motorhome, it is best to look for campsites or areas on the outskirts and get around on foot or by public transport.

Marbella and Estepona

Further west, the atmosphere changes:

  • Marbella combines an old town with whitewashed narrow streets and a more glamorous area around the port and promenade.

  • Estepona stands out for its streets lined with flower pots and murals, as well as a very pleasant seafront promenade.

Tips for a comfortable journey

  • Avoid rush hour traffic in highly urban areas.

  • Plan ahead where to sleep: campsites, areas or car parks that allow overnight stays.

  • Alternate busy days with others spent relaxing on the beach and going for walks.

A well-planned route along the Costa del Sol allows you to enjoy the sea, the atmosphere of the coastal towns and the comfort of sleeping every night in your own home on wheels.
