If you are travelling by motorhome, camper van or tent, late or early, the big question arises: how is free camping in Spain<\/strong>. Before deciding where to sleep or set up your little camp, it’s important to understand what is considered wild camping, what is prohibited in almost the entire country, and what alternatives you have to enjoy nature without risking a fine or leaving a mark on the environment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

When we talk about wild camping in Spain<\/strong>, we usually mean:<\/p>

      Therefore, if your idea of traveling is based on wild camping in Spain<\/strong> in the classic sense (pitching a tent wherever you want), it is important that you change your approach a little and rely on campsites, motorhome areas, and authorized areas.<\/p>

      Difference between camping and overnight stays in vehicles<\/h3>

      One of the points that generates the most doubts among those who travel in a motorhome or camper van is the difference between camping<\/strong> and overnight stays<\/strong>.<\/p>

      In general, it is understood that:<\/p>

      • Overnight stays in a vehicle<\/strong> are:<\/p>

        • Parking your motorhome or camper van correctly, respecting traffic regulations.<\/p><\/li>

        • Sleeping inside, with everything packed away: without taking out chairs, tables, awnings, without occupying more space than the vehicle itself.<\/p><\/li>

            • Motorhome apps and websites<\/strong>: although they are not \u201claw\u201d, they do collect experiences from other travelers and guide you on places where sleeping is allowed (or not).<\/p><\/li>

            • Signs on site<\/strong>: many beaches, viewpoints, and car parks have specific signs indicating whether camping, overnight stays, or parking of motorhomes is prohibited.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

              • If you stay overnight in a permitted car park, always maintain \u201cparking only\u201d mode<\/strong>: no tables or awnings; everything inside.<\/p><\/li>

              • Respect the environment<\/strong>: don’t leave rubbish, don’t pull up plants, don’t make fires where it is not specifically allowed (in most places it is prohibited).<\/p><\/li>

              • Avoid loud music, shouting, and bright lights at night, especially if you are near small towns or in natural areas.<\/p><\/li>
